How to Apply
The TMC Family Medicine Residency Program offers eight positions for a categorical three-year training track. To be eligible for the program, applicants must be either a United States citizen or permanent resident. Texoma Medical Center currently does not sponsor any visas.
All applicants are required to apply using the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) application process. Applications submitted via mail, email or fax will not be processed.
We participate in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Please register with NRMP if you wish to be matched with our program. Our program participates in SOAP through the NRMP for any unfilled positions remaining after the matching algorithm has been processed. We will not accept any applicants outside the NRMP Match.
Information needed to apply on ERAS
- ERAS application form
- Medical school transcript
- United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) and/or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Exam (COMLEX) transcripts, as applicable
- Minimum of three physician references (Note: One letter of recommendation should be submitted from a family medicine physician or primary care provider)
- Dean’s Letter of Medical Student Performance
- Curriculum vitae
- Personal statement
- Photograph
- If any required documents are in a language other than English, an English translation of the document must be provided
Minimum criteria
- Date of graduation from medical school no greater than two years from date of application or no greater than three years elapsed since engaging in consistent, full-time, independent patient care.
- Passing Step 3/Level 3 required for applicants who have taken a gap year.
- Allopathic, osteopathic and international graduates are welcome to apply.
- Texoma Medical Center does not sponsor Visas.
- Medical School MUST BE recognized by the Texas Medical Board.
Selection process
Applications are reviewed by the Selection Committee and invitations to interview are extended by email. Interviews will be scheduled from October to January of each application season based upon ERAS, NRMP standards. We will not give status updates or accept AAMC ID#s from callers.
In accordance with Texoma Medical Center GME regulations, we do not sponsor observer-ships or clinical externships to applicants not already enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program elsewhere.

Interviews and appointments
Our program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and are reviewed from September through January. Interviews occur October through January. You will be notified if you have been granted an interview.
The residency program uses a holistic approach in reviewing applications. Eligible applicants will be considered on the basis of residency program-related criteria such as their ability, aptitude, academic credentials, interests and leadership. We will also evaluate teamwork and communication skills, and personal characteristics such as motivation, integrity, cultural awareness, adaptability, persistence and overall alignment with the mission of the program.
Our program will be participating in ERAS program signaling for academic year 2025-2026 recruitment. Signaling will be one of many factors considered in the determination of an interview invitation.

Appointments
Applicants who successfully match with our program must provide the following documentation prior to the start of the program:
- Official medical school transcript with degree issued and date of issuance
- Copy of medical school diploma
- Copy of social security card
- Copy of current driver’s license
- Copy of permanent resident card, if applicable
- Copies of current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS certification (only if completed prior to starting residency)
- If required documentation is in different names, then proof of name change (i.e. marriage certificate or court document) must be provided
- If any required documents are in a language other than English, then an English translation of the documents must be provided
In addition, applicants must successfully complete all TMC pre-employment requirements prior to the appointment date. Requirements include a background check and pre-employment physical with drug screening.
Failure to provide any required documents or to successfully complete all UHS pre-employment requirements by the date of appointment will result in automatic withdrawal from the program.
